SIU School of Medicine proposes construction of an $80 million academic building on the Springfield campus to expand medical school enrollment and strengthen the region’s healthcare workforce. The facility will include problem-based learning classrooms, simulated patient and clinical skills labs, seminar and lecture spaces, and modern collaborative learning environments. Serving 293 medical students, 330 residents and fellows, 350 faculty, and 1,500 staff, it will also support community education and health outreach to rural and small urban Illinois communities.
